Ok, SO.. It’s officially “I can see my breath” season–which means my skin is about to try to act like any type of added moisture is a treasonous act punishable by death ( And yes, it really is that intense sometimes).
But in truthfulness, I’m actually pretty excited for Winter. I love the cold air in my lungs…just not on my skin LOL.
So here is a few tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years to combat dry skin, and give your skin back it’s Summer glow during the Winter months.
Prime Thy Base, So You Can Beat Thy Face
Sounds simple, right? Well, tell that to the millions of people who currently have flakes all over their face from the lack of moisture. Giving your skin moisture during the Winter can be vital to its survival. Try using the Tarte Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer ! I naturally have oily skin, but this still works wonders for me. This one in particular is my favorite because, it’s gel & no matter how dry my skin is, this moisturizer snaps it right back to a healthy glow in a matter of minutes. A great dupe to this is Garnier’s Active Skin Moisture Rescue , and they have two different versions available your different skin types.
EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE!
Girl. If you don’t go scrub all of that dead weight off of your face, you’re going to have more problems than just moisture retention. If you’re like me, and you wear makeup almost every day, then you need to exfoliate…like now. Skin wants to hold onto any moisture it gets during the winter, and that includes the moisture from your foundation. You can use any face scrub you’d like, but I like to use Philosophy’s Purity Cleanser, and when I need extra help, I like to use a mud mask to get right to the core. To be honest, any mud mask will do, but I always buy the Walgreens brand.
Shave Your Face
As disgusting as this sounds, shaving your face can actually help your makeup and moisturizer stick better to your skin leaving you with that “air brushed” look. You can just purchase a small razor at your local beauty supply store, and trust me, you won’t regret it. Your face will feel softer than a baby’s butt after.
